Gilgit Airport is public domestic Airport located in Gilgit, which is capital of Gilgit-Baltistan and connect other districts of Gilgit-Baltistan.
The construction of Gilgit Airport started in 1947 and completed in 1948. The local community of Gilgit and the then State of Nagar(now District) and State of Hunza (now District Hunza) actively volunteer in the construction of Gilgit Airport.

The total length of run way is 1,646 meters (5,400 feet) and direction 07/25. The surface of runway is made of 07/25 Asphalt, suitable for small passenger aircraft. Its located at elevation of 45 meters and about 200 meters away from Gilgit river.
Up gradation
Gilgit Airport is upgraded with New Terminal Building , Re-Location of Car Parking on 30th July, 2012. Mr. Muhammad Nawaz Sharif the then Prime Minister of Islamic Republic of Pakistan on 6th December, 2013.
